Our Blog
Here is where we share the latest from UA3, including community stories, behind the scenes moments, updates from our email newsletter, volunteer spotlights, and impact videos.
Whether you are a longtime supporter or just getting to know us, this is the place to follow along with the work we are doing to uplift NYC’s neighborhoods, one project at a time.

UA3’s story began in 2012, when fifth grader Sean Hong won an essay contest and received an iPad. Seeing that some classmates lacked access to technology, Sean and his sister Kai raised funds to return to PS 130 and donate mini iPads to every graduating fifth grader.
This year, Sean returned to PS 130 to continue that legacy. Alongside Principal Lily Woo, laptops were awarded to five winners of the 2025 essay contest.
As Lily shared, the essays were chosen not for perfect grammar, but for strong ideas and real solutions.
This moment brings UA3’s mission full circle, uplifting youth and closing the digital divide where it matters most.
